Menopause & Skin Health

I’ve been eager to write on this topic—menopause and how it affects our skin ,because I must hear it every single day in clinic. My ladies jump on th

e treatment bed and say things like:

“Do what you can with this face.”

“I know there’s not much that can be done here, just make me feel good.”

"Make me look 10 years younger, like I did before the menopause.”

So, is it a myth that menopause plays a vital role in the way our facial appearance changes? No.

Menopause brings real, physical changes, hence the nickname “the change.” But here’s the part many women don’t realise: there are so many natural remedies, lifestyle habits, and advanced treatments that can support your skin and help you feel like yourself again.

The Triangle of Youth

When we’re younger, our face follows what’s called the “triangle of youth”,cheeks are full and lifted, the jawline is firm, and everything tapers beautifully down to the chin.

During and after menopause, this triangle begins to flip.

Why?

  • Bone density loss: Our cheekbones and jawbone become less defined.

  • Collagen and elastin drop: The skin becomes thinner, less springy, and more likely to sag.

  • Fat moves downwards: Hollowing appears under the eyes, while the jawline gets heavier.

Put together, that “triangle of youth” flips on it's head , making the lower face look heavier and the cheeks less lifted. It’s not your imagination- it’s the hormones.

Hormones, Skin and Mood

Estrogen is one of the biggest reasons skin looks and feels youthful. It keeps the skin hydrated, thick, and firm. When levels fall, the skin naturally becomes drier and looser.

But menopause doesn’t just show up in the way we see our appearance in the mirror. Mood swings, irritability, low confidence, and even anxiety are all part of the hormonal shifts. That’s why supporting your skin is about more than smoothing lines, it’s about helping you feel brighter, calmer, and more yourself.

Natural Support for Menopausal Skin

You don’t have to go straight to the injectables to start feeling a difference, there are natural remedies and supplements that can really help.

  • Shilajit – a natural mineral resin, full of antioxidants and nutrients that don’t just support skin repair, but also help improve mood, focus, and energy levels. It’s also thought to help balance hormones, which makes it especially supportive during menopause.

  • Seamoss – bursting with over 90 minerals, seamoss nourishes the body and hydrates skin from within. It also helps regulate mood and hormones, keeping both skin and emotional health steadier.

  • Supreme CBD Sea Moss Gummies (Apple flavour) – a local brand we trust. These gummies make seamoss so much easier (and tastier!) to take, while the added CBD helps calm both skin and mood.

  • Supreme CBD Collagen Gummies (Strawberry flavour) – another favourite, combining CBD with collagen to support elasticity, hair, and nails.

This isn’t an ad—it’s simply a recommendation of a credible local brand that matches the ethos of our clinic.

  • Everyday remedies – rosehip oil, aloe vera, and hyaluronic acid can restore hydration and bounce.

  • Supplements – omega-3s, vitamins C and E, and collagen peptides help reinforce skin health and slow visible aging.

Advanced In-Clinic Treatments

When you’re ready for more noticeable results, in-clinic treatments can make all the difference. They’re not about changing how you look ,they’re about restoring strength, elasticity, and radiance to skin that’s been impacted by hormones.

The Enhanced Deluxe Facial

I’ve created my signature treatment, the Enhanced Deluxe Facial, and it’s become a real favourite among my 50+ age group clients—though it can be tailored for any skin concern. Think of it as a full workout and spa day for your skin all rolled into one.

It begins with a soothing double cleanse with ozone steam to deeply purify and prep the skin. Then comes the Hydra Derma machine, which has six advanced modes designed to target the specific issues that menopause brings:

  • Sonic Scrubber – gently lifts away dull, dead skin cells, helping with that lacklustre, sluggish look menopause skin often takes on.

  • Hydra Dermabrasion – uses tailored serums like hyaluronic acid and vitamin C to rehydrate and brighten, tackling dryness and pigmentation.

  • Cold Hammer – instantly calms redness, soothes inflammation, and locks in moisture.

  • Ultrasound Therapy – improves absorption of active ingredients and stimulates circulation, encouraging the skin to heal and repair more effectively.

  • RF with Red Light Therapy – one of the stars for menopausal skin, this combination stimulates deep collagen and elastin production, helping to firm sagging areas and soften lines.

  • Oxygen Spray (Oxy-Spray) – delivers a refreshing boost of oxygen and nutrients, re-energising tired, sluggish skin cells.

After the machine work, we add the relaxing touches that make this facial so special: warm towels, hot stone massage across the neck and jawline, and facial lymphatic massage to drain fluid and de-puff. Then we apply a bespoke masktailored to your skin’s needs, followed by ice globes to tighten and refresh, and finish with LED red light therapy—another powerful collagen stimulator.

The whole treatment is focused on collagen stimulation, hydration, and skin firming, exactly what’s needed to counteract the effects of hormone decline during menopause. And just as important, it’s a deeply relaxing, feel-good experience. Many of my ladies say they leave not only looking fresher but feeling completely reset.

Other Regenerative Options

  • Polynucleotide Treatments – injectable skin boosters that repair, regenerate, and deeply hydrate.

  • Exosome Therapy – advanced cellular messengers that encourage collagen production, restore vitality, and give a glow from the inside out.

A Holistic Lifestyle Approach

I always tell my clients: it’s about looking after yourself in a rounded, balanced way. Some of the best results come when you combine little daily rituals with targeted treatments.

  • Nutrition & supplementation – keeping your body topped up with the minerals and vitamins it needs.

  • Supreme CBD gummies – an enjoyable way to support both skin health and emotional balance.

  • Facial lymphatic massage – this gentle massage helps reduce puffiness, improves circulation, and leaves the skin looking fresher and more defined.

  • Professional support – from polynucleotides to exosomes, in-clinic treatments can lift and brighten where homecare can’t reach.
